at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville, NJ
June 5 - July 5, 2009
Opening reception: Saturday June 6 from 2:00 to 7:00pm

Please join us for this 2-person show where long-time member Alan J. Klawans joins one of our newest members, Michael Schweigart, in West Meets East.

"Japanese Souvenir"
by Alan J. Klawans

Klawans has received recognition for his work that has evolved to include various materials and technical processes over the years. In West Meets East, Klawans is exhibiting digital prints and drawings of Japan. Klawans has always admired the architecture, prints, crafts and gardens of Japan. A recent trip there gave him the opportunity to view these visual treasures first hand.

"South Route"
by Michael Schweigart

Schweigart is a respected American landscape painter, and is inclined to paint in a style of realism associated with the tradition of the American landscape painters, using oil or acrylic as a painting medium. “I paint from a variety of vantage points,” says Schweigart, “sometimes from a bird’s eye view, which encompasses the immensity of the land. At other times, my focus is on the more intimate aspects of the countryside with a close up of an architectural element combined with just a glimpse of the distant world.”

Please note that the opening reception is earlier than usual, and runs from 2:00 to 7:00pm on Saturday June 6.
