inspired by trips to the Eastern and Western parts of the US.
<br />
<br />
An exhibition focusing on works based on the travels in opposite
directions was first proposed by Harrington. "I took a Sabbatical from
my position as Professor of Illustration at Moore College of Art and
Design in the Fall of 2021. As part of my sabbatical project, I traveled
across the US, taking the Lincoln Highway from Philadelphia to
Sacramento, California, and returning East following old Route 66." said
Harrington. 'I have always admired the work Debbie created on her trips
to paint in Maine and New England, and I thought showing our work from
the East and the West together would make a nice exhibition.'
<br />
<br />
Debbie's passion is plein air painting. "I love being outside observing
light, colors, and movement so I choose to paint on site. Being in the
environment inspires me to create unique compositions that reflect what I
consider special about the location. I use my skills as an artist to
translate the scene to the canvas, capturing my emotional response." Her
work has been included in prestigious juried art shows such as the
Ellarslie Open and Phillips Mill. In addition to paintings from Maine,
her favorite place to paint, paintings of local scenes and Umbria,
Italy, will also be included.<br /><br />Please visit the <a href="https://www.lambertvillearts.com/events/2023/10" target="_blank">event website</a> for

Fountaine and Michael Schweigart. Visit Tuscany, the coast of Maine and
other special places as the artists take you on a visual voyage.
<br />
<br />
Claudia Fouse Fountaine has been painting local subjects for years now;
the farms, gardens, and animals she's surrounded by in Bucks County.
Lately traveling has given her the chance to depict a wider range of
images, whether it's the rolling hills of Tuscany, or just a Manhattan
Street scene. Either way, ultimately it's the vibrant light and energy
Fountaine brings to her work that draw you in, whatever the subject.
<br />
<br />
Michael Schweigart can find inspiration just about anywhere he goes and
relishes taking the road less traveled whenever possible with a focus on
what characterizes a region. Like many he has a deep appreciation for
nature. It provides a constant source of ideas to explore. Scenes of
coastal Maine and parts of eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey make up
the bulk of his work. Schweigart’s studio work is often a composite of
memory, plein air sketches, and photographic images to paint specific
places, naturalistically. Much of his work is inspired by trips to
Maine, a favorite place to paint.

Rutherford Renner NJ, enjoys painting figures engaged in the experience
of their environments. Her work has been recently described as "Bold,
brave, and a true voice." Renner states: "Capturing contemporary life
snap shots in two dimensions is an exercise in problem solving and
creativity. I enjoy mixing pure colors, keeping my palette simple to
create authentic observation. The quiet engagement of brush to palette
and brush to board provides daily calm and purpose".
<br />
<br />
Alla Podolsky’s work lends itself to storytelling. "I am a chronicler,"
Podolsky says. "My work is narrative, visually and thematically. I find
stories in everything I observe, and painting is how I tell them. Beyond
depiction, I try to convey experiences that are both universal and
intensely personal." A native of Kiyv, Ukraine, Alla Podolsky traces her
love of psychological painting to that ancient city’s iconography and
rich narrative traditions.
Her work is a combination of her European sensibilities and her American
experiences.

His intention is to compel each viewer to linger with the same vision that he enjoys behind the lens: the interplay between vibrant colors and that special quality of light. DeFay spends a great deal of time with composition, searching for the precise arrangement of the subject. The work allows him to preserve these moments and share these valuable experiences with others.<br /><br />As a painter, DeFay creates colorful abstract paintings that seek to reconnect with a sense of play and embrace the unexpected. He enjoys working in the abstract expressionist style for its looseness freedom, and the elements of surprise. He is fascinated by the ways abstraction allows for the individual interpretation by each viewer. Seeing that connection happen is one of the highlights of being an abstract artist.<br /><br />Residing in beautiful Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Bill Jersey is surrounded by creeks, forests, fields and hills—an abundance of scenes he wants to capture or interpret on canvas. Over time his paintings evolved from more realistic scenes of the natural world to more interpreted representations, using dramatic colors to evoke fresh perspectives. As a documentary filmmaker of many years he learned to catch a moment in time and use it to tell a larger story. That is what he seeks to capture in his paintings.<br /><br />Jersey has produced and directed award-winning documentary films for network television for over 50 years. Eventually his focus shifted to painting landscapes, and when he turned 91, he became a painter full time. He paints every day in his studio in Lambertville, New Jersey.<br /></p><p>Please visit the <a href="https://www.lambertvillearts.com/events/2023/07" target="_blank">event website</a> for

Carol
Sanzalone will be showcased for the month of June.
Inspired by images in nature, and the exciting patterns of life, this
unique exhibit highlights a variety of creative techniques by two
talented watercolor artists.
<br />
<br />
Gail Bracegirdle’s paintings express the “environmentally sensitive
nature of the medium,” as she presented images with color and texture in
watercolor. The variations she created, allow for the capture of the
visual characteristics of each image, and share her interest in the
subject.
<br />
<br />
Carol Sanzalone will be exhibiting her watercolor and acrylic works.
Her paintings visually express the light, shadow and color patterns that
enrich images, both realistically and abstractly, to express her
impression of a subject. She is always drawing on those experiences on
her Creative Journey.</p><p>Please visit the <a href="https://www.lambertvillearts.com/events/2023/06" target="_blank">event website</a> for

Larry Mitnick and Heather Barros each approach the notion of
"Outside-Inside" from their particular vantage, yet one finds common
ground in their show. Mitnick's work is clearly more formal and
abstract, while Barros' work bends to the figurative.
<br />
<br />
These artworks present the viewer with shape and color. Mitnick's
paintings are exclusively geometric. He invents shapes and forms to
create his own landscapes. Barros' oils and pastels allude to
corresponding shapes and colors in the landscape. Within her urban
scenes, we find squares and triangles ready to be abstracted - if we
choose to see them that way. While viewers may never divine Mitnick's
specific inspiration, there is a structure in each of his compositions.
Fragments of his thinking become visible once our eyes discover the link
between any two elements.
<br />
<br />
Other of Barros' landscapes are more organic. A sandy country road leads
to a stand of trees. Light leads to darkness. Color delineates form and
space. And here, despite his straight-edge precision, Mitnick echoes
Barros. His trapezoidal shapes also suggest light leading to dark, but
in a layered way. One senses depth in the separation of Mitnick's
layers, as one senses depth in Barros' receding country road. But in
Mitnick's work, the ordering of layers, our perception of which are near
and which are far, can have multiple interpretations.
<br />
<br />
Heather Barros ventures into the outside world, while Larry Mitnick
ventures within. Art is a portal that connects the two worlds. There is
beauty to be found, whether one is inside looking out or outside looking
in.

representational paintings. Jane continues her journey to create
juxtapositions of different visual observations with light and color.
"Light determines the color, composition, and the story being told. I
have combined representative and abstract elements in the same context
as well as pure abstractions in oils and mixed media. At times I think
this becomes a sensual journey of mystery. Hopefully the observer will
find a springboard to fantasy as well as aesthetic pleasure." </p><p>Primarily a plein air painter, Debbie is fascinated with capturing
light, especially when it is most dramatic during early morning or
evening hours. "Painting on location is an immersive experience for me. I
remember the sounds, smells and feel of each location. My paintings
represent my emotional response to the scenes. This show includes local
scenes as well as images from New York state, Cape Cod Massachusetts,
and Monhegan Island in Maine. I enjoy observing the differences in the
colors and light in each of these locations, but my heart belongs to
Monhegan as its natural beauty has been preserved." </p><p>Please visit the <a href="https://www.lambertvillearts.com/events/2022/11" target="_blank">event website</a> for

details that one would not ordinarily notice. It is fascinating to
explore and observe how individual elements interact and to present them
on a grander scale than the ordinary obvious perspective. His intention
is to compel each viewer to linger with the same vision that he enjoys
behind the lens. DeFay enjoys the interplay between vibrant colors and
that special quality of light, which invariably captures his attention.
He spends a great deal of time with composition, searching from behind
the lens for the precise arrangement of the subject. This work allows
DeFay to preserve these moments, in order to share this valuable
experience with others.<br />
<br />
Sanzalone, inspired by the interaction of color and forms, creatively
captures the graphic impact of natural and reflected light patterns,
throughout the day and seasons. With texture, shapes and washes of
color, a painting will often develop from an experimental, rather than a
realistic approach to a subject - " The painting and I work together,
as one thing leads to another! " - says Sanzalone. Artistically, her
"Emotional Odyssey" has included work in a variety of media, painting in
watercolor, acrylic, oil and printmaking in silkscreen and lithography,
as well as professional experience in Graphic Design. When she
considers a subject she is always drawing on that creative history.<br />

approaches to painting the landscape, and their impact together is
dynamic. Bill’s bold impressionistic color harmonies and broad brushwork
excite the senses, and his color and light patterns create complex
compositions. While Michael’s palette is subtle with natural colors
blending light and shadow that build texture and develop detail. “Along
the Road” brings together the best of both styles with compelling scenes
of their time and places.

Gail enjoys exploring different ways of painting with watercolors by
experimenting with textures and working on various watercolor papers.
She always begins with a subject in mind and then 'gets creative'.
<br />
<br />
Joe's landscape paintings are a natural extension of his hiking and
cycling trips as he explores and searches out new places for
inspiration. His artwork is a distillation of his experiences of a
place, and the resulting paintings are somewhere between reality, memory

<b><span style="font-size: large;">Natural Influences</span><br />Beatrice Bork and Claudia Fouse Fountaine<br /><br /> Exhibit: June 9 - July 3
<br />Opening Reception: Saturday, June 11, 6-8 pm</b></p><p> <br />"Natural
Influences" is the perfect title for a show featuring acrylic and
watercolor paintings, by two artists whose love of the natural world is
reflected in everything they paint. While Claudia Fountaine and Beatrice
Bork differ in their methods, they are both inspired by feather and
fur, leaf and stone.
<br />
<br />
Beatrice Bork is most known for her poetic, yet carefully rendered watercolor paintings of animals and birds.
Claudia Fouse Fountaine is known for her landscapes of local farm life, as well as gardens, flowers, animals and still lifes.

The exhibition "Moorings," featuring recent paintings by Heather Barros
and Larry Mitnick, addresses connectedness on several levels. Both
artists use lines to visually tie a set of abstract shapes to something
else. These imagined shapes are buoyant; fast lines secure them. Barros'
elements may be anchored to an unseen ground, while Mitnick's shapes
are often bound to companion travelers. Movement is implied even if the
motion is constrained, so the paintings suggest a tethered kinesis.

<br />
<br />
Alla Podolsky’s interest in rich emotional lives of people and places
come from her background and the kind of work she has always aspired to
create: narrative, but not necessarily literal, existing between reality
and imagination.
<br />
<br />
Laura Rutherford Renner enjoys painting figures engaged in the
experience of their environments. Her work has been recently described
as “Bold, brave, and a true voice.”
