John Treichler - Captures and Releases Exhibit

Treichler’s Captures and Releases Exhibit Opens at Bank of Princeton in Lambertville.

Photographer John Treichler will be displaying an exhibit of recent work at the new Community Art Gallery at The Bank of Princeton in Lambertville beginning on January 17 and running through February 15. An opening reception will be held on January 20 from 3:00 to 6:00, and a "Meet the Artist" event will be held on February 11 from 11:00 to 1:00.

"This exhibit is a chance to show some new and recent works that focus on New Jersey scenes, some that are familiar, and some that are unusual. It’s a celebration of the region, and the diversity that can be found here." The works range from traditional realistic images to more abstract works. More than 15 works are on display along with his recently published book "Lambertville, Photo Essay of a New Jersey River Town."

John Treichler has had 2 photographs accepted into the Philadelphia Sketch Club PHOTOgraphy 2011 Exhibition. The juried exhibit runs from October 28 through November 12, 2011.

Treichler is exhibiting "Eyes Skyward" and "Hot Dog Johnny".

Founded in 1860, the Philadelphia Sketch Club is America’s oldest artists club. Exhibits and interest in fine art photography have existed at the Sketch Club from its earliest days. One of its founders, John L. Gihon, pursued photography as an art form as did other notable members to include Thomas Eakins, George B. Wood, William Shewell Ellis and Richard Dooner. Lectures at the Club’s monthly meeting have also focused on photography with the most notable being by Professor Eadweard Muybridge who did experimental photography of action subjects.

An Artists’ Reception will be held on Sunday, November 6, from 2 to 4 PM. Gallery hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 PM. Admission is free. “I hope you will drop by the gallery and see my watercolors,” says Bracegirdle, “I’ve been exploring a new approach, I call it ‘crinkle paper’. It’s a delightful effect achieved by soaking and crumpling the watercolor paper. When the paint is applied, it will take to the paper in unexpected — and uncontrolled — ways, somewhat like batik in fabric. “The spontaneity of it is really exciting,” she says. “You never know quite what you’ll get.”

Sardo, a pastel artist, explains “my work is always evolving,” the calligraphic lines of his previous paintings have morphed into softer surfaces in his latest work. “I’ve been painting along the Delaware Canal in Uhlerstown. It is a fantastic cluster of historic buildings and the only covered bridge over the Delaware Canal. It is a wonderful place to paint outside”.

You might think you know Gail Bracegirdle's and Doug Sardo's work. Perhapsyou've enjoyed Bracegirdle's elegant florals or light-handed still lifes ofsun-dappled fruits and vegetables. Once you've seen them you will immediatelyrecognize Sardo's luminous landscapes emerging from calligraphic swirls ofmauve, emerald, ocher, and scarlet.

Well, forget what you think you know, because both artists are eager to showyou something new.

"I hope my work is always evolving," says Sardo, a plein air painter who worksin pastels. "It should evolve." By way of evidence, the calligraphic lines ofhis previous paintings have morphed into softer surfaces in his latest work.

"The technique is called 'sfmuato' from the Italian word 'tosmoke'. It means that there are no harsh outlines, areas blend into one anotherwhich makes for a slightly hazy, more realistic, depiction of light and color",explains Sardo.

"I'm always looking for a new approach," exclaims Bracegirdle, who notes she isadding a new wrinkle to her watercolors.

"I call it 'crinkle paper,'" says Bracegirdle, describing the results she getsby soaking and crumpling her watercolor paper. When the paint is applied, itwill take to the paper in unexpected - and uncontrolled - ways, somewhat likebatik in fabric.

When they began planning their joint show for The Artists' Gallery inLambertville, Harrington and Katzenbach decided to make bicycles the theme.They also decided to make the show align with a few other topics close to theirhearts: recycling, reducing waste, and sharing.

"It kills me to see a bike thrown out with the trash," said Harrington. "A bikeshouldn't be in a landfill."

Harrington and Katzenbach hope that a few more will be saved from that fatethis month as their show, "Freewheeling," aims to help support and promote themission of Pedals for Progress, a High Bridge, NJ, organization that collectsused bikes and ships them overseas to provide affordable, nonpollutingtransportation for the world's working poor.

"The question is not what you look at, but what you see."

Henry David Thoreau wrote that in his famous journal 160 years ago this month. Artists Paul Grecian and Materese Roche honor the spirit of Thoreau's vision with their own interpretation in their new joint show, "A Sense of Place". The collection of new landscapes, skyscapes and waterscapes debuts Friday, August 5, and will be on display through Monday, September 5 at the Artists' Gallery. Grecian, a photographer and Roche, who works in oils, will host an opening reception Saturday, August 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gallery. During the reception, they will reveal the results of a collaborative project, designed for this show.

Grecian and Roche will each create a work based on one pre-determined image. The artists have selected one 'neutral' image which they will individually interpret, in their respective mediums. They will translate the scene, bringing to it their individual emotional responses, creativity and vision. It's a logical extension of Grecian and Roche's shared aesthetic and a reflection of Thoreau's quote.

Both artists have had the experience of people connecting to their work as specific places they know and have a deep emotional response to. "However" says Grecian "those are often not the places we've depicted, I believe this suggests we have managed to tap into some universal experience of the landscape".

Materese's and Paul's work transcends paint and paper, surface and image, as well as the specifics of time and place. It connects you to the essence and universality of the natural world. See it in person and there's no denying its power.

In Views From the Other Side, Podolsky and Treichler examine how things can appear so different when seen through new a perspective, whether it's a different viewpoint, angle, reflection, or dimension. The exhibit provides an opportunity for those who see it to experience what happens visually and emotionally when one breaks through the other side.

Podolsky, a painter who favors psychological and narrative themes, credits her inclinations to a childhood spent in Kiev, Ukraine, surrounded by ancient Byzantine iconography. "I consider myself a 'human painter,'" she says. "By that I mean that I paint people in the environments that are inextricably theirs and that bear the stamp of their humanity."

Treichler works in color and black and white photography, and enjoys creating images that stay with the viewer long after they have been seen. "I want people to look at objects and scenes and consider them in a way they had not thought about before," he says.

Artists' Gallery on the Hidden Gardens of Lambertville Tour.

As in past years, Artists' Gallery is participating in the Kalmia Club's Hidden Gardens of Lambertville Tour but this year we're doing something a little different. As usual, some of our artists will be out painting in the gardens during the tour, but this year for the first time, Artists' Gallery is one of the stops on the tour and we'll be featuring garden related artwork including some of the paintings our artists painted for last year's Tour.

The Hidden Gardens of Lambertville Tour takes place Saturday, June 11 from 10am to 4pm. If you are on the tour, please stop by Artists' Gallery to see our garden artwork and enjoy some light refreshments. On specially marked paintings, we'll be donating a portion of the sales to the Kalmia Club for their charitable causes.

Immediately following the Garden Tour is the opening reception for Jo-Ann Osnoe and Eric Rhinehart's show, "Captured Moments", from 4pm to 7pm, so come out and spend your Saturday in Lambertville.

Osnoe finds inspiration for her richly varied landscapes and elegant florals in the Bucks County countryside where she has made her home for the past 15 years. She notes that she rarely needs to travel more than an hour to find scenery that captivates her and frequently returns to favorite locales. "There is one favorite spot I've now painted in all seasons," she says.

Rhinehart often ventures a bit further. Many of his airy watercolors are inspired by travels in the Caribbean and England. The settings range from comfortable beach houses, to pubs in the English countryside, to ferryboats in Martinique. "I'm an impressionist at heart," he says. "I use light and color to describe the physical and emotional weight of my subjects and what they tell us about who or what they are and why their existence is significant."

Eric and Jo-Ann's paintings draw you into places that are simultaneously familiar and ideal. Please join us at the opening reception for "Captured Moments" on Saturday, June 11 from 4 to 7 pm.

Joe Kazimierczyk's painting of a winter sunset over Grandview Road was awarded First Place in Painting at the 17th Annual Artsbridge Juried Art Exhibition.

The jurors of this show were Paul Matthews, a well know Lambertville artist who recently had a retrospective at the Ellarslie, the Trenton City Museum; James McFarlane, president of the American Watercolor Society; Kate Brockman, dedicated figure sculptor from the Philadelphia area.

Treichler Wins Sean Owen Newman Award at Phillips' Mill

John Treichler has received the Sean Owen Newman Award at the 19th Annual Phillips' Mill Photographic Exhibition for his photograph "Hot Dog Johnny". The Annual Phillips' Mill Photographic Exhibition is often referred to as "the Best Show on the East Coast." Each year the juried Exhibition features unique works from a wide range of talented sources, including local artists as well as those from other countries.

This year jurors are Stephen Perloff, editor of The Photo Review; James Pryor, professional photographer and longtime PMPE participant; and Vincent Feldman, fine art photographer and instructor at the University of the Arts and Tyler School of Art.

Phillips' Mill is located at 2619 River Road in New Hope, just 2 miles north of the center of town along Route 32.

The exhibit runs from June 4th through June 26th. Hours are Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday 1:00 - 5:00pm; Friday and Saturday 1:00 - 9:00pm.

Abstraction takes a turn this month at Artists' Gallery in a show featuring the work of Alan J. Klawans and Andrew Werth from Friday, April 8, through Sunday, May 1, 2011.

Andrew Werth's paintings in this show comprise a body of work he calls "Centers of Narrative Gravity" where swirls of color interact with thousands of individually hand-painted marks to create interactive paintings whose appearance changes depending upon where you stand.

"I'm using a combination of color theory and metallic and reflective acrylic paints so that you'll see something different up close than you will from far away or from an angle. The paintings read differently even as the light changes over the course of a day," Werth says. He explains the show's title, "Just like in physics, where a center of gravity is a useful abstraction even though it doesn't exist in reality, the Center of Narrative Gravity is a useful metaphor for The Self - we are the centers of the stories we tell about ourselves."

Alan J. Klawans' work is the result of his observations on contemporary life. Decorative elements of buildings, ships, commuter trains and construction sites, as well as imagery from science and current events, make up the visual toolbox from which he draws. "The visual aspects of my environment, especially in an urban area, are constant sources of inspiration for me," says Klawans. "The use of wood, metal salvage, and waste paper - in the form of digital shapes and textures - are my alternatives to the traditional artist's materials of paint and canvas."

Work by painter Carol Sanzalone of Lambertville and paperwork artist Jennifer Cadoff of Princeton, will be on display at Artists' Gallery at 18 Bridge Street in Lambertville, March 11th through April 3rd.

Although their work may look very different, the artists share similarities in both process and intention. Carol and Jennifer are often inspired to start new work by something in the natural world - a flowing river or a stand of trees at the edge of a field, for example. One artist developing color images with watercolor and acrylic, the other in black and white with ink and paper constructions. Both enjoying the process of the image developing as they work and the excitement of one thing leading to another.

The opening for "One Thing Leads to Another" will be held Saturday, March 12th from 4 to 6 pm at Artists' Gallery.

The artists will host a closing reception on Sunday, April 3rd, from 2 to 4 pm.

Jennifer's work has been chosen for many regional and national juried shows, including the International Juried Exhibition at the NJ Visual Arts Center in Summit, Connections at the George Segal Gallery at Montclair State University; Newark's City Without Walls "Metro Show"; the Philadelphia Watercolor Society's International Exhibition of Works on Paper; the Phillips Mill Annual in New Hope PA; both drawing and photography shows at Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown NJ; the Ellarslie Open at the Trenton City Museum; and the National Juried "Art of the Horse" at the Somerset Art Association in Bernardsville, NJ.

Jennifer has won a number of awards for her art, and her work is in the permanent collection of the Mercer County Cultural & Heritage Commission. She is a Signature member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and a full member of the Garden State Watercolor Society. She holds an AFA in Fine Arts from Mercer County College and a BFA in Fine Arts from The College of New Jersey, as well as an AB in English from Dartmouth College. She has studied oil painting with noted New Jersey artist Mel Leipzig, printmaking with award-winning print-maker Joan Needham and hand-made book-making with nationally known book artist Maria Pisano.

Jennifer is teaming up with Carol Sanzalone for a 2-person show at Artists' Gallery from March 11 to April 3, 2011. We'll post more on that show very soon.

The proof is on display in their new show, “Familiar Places,” at Artists’ Gallery in Lambertville.

“Jo-Ann and Doug deliver remarkably fresh perspectives on the iconic scenery of the region,” said Gallery spokesperson Laurie Nicholson. “Their insight is genuinely earned, too. "Mix and Match", a new exhibit of Alan Klawan’s original digital prints and Gail Bracegirdle’s watercolors and mixed media work at Artists’ Gallery. It's an exhibit that both interprets subjects of the present and evokes memories of the past. There’s a great deal of emotion captured and a great deal of beauty.

While Bracegirdle works in the traditional medium of watercolor, her technique and use of various papers and surfaces turns nostalgic subject matter into contemporary statements. Klawans uses a computer to create work melding his own photography with elements of graphic design to produce original, archival pigment, digital prints. Both have exhibited their work widely and are represented in public and private collections.

"Mix and Match" opens Friday, October 8 and runs through Sunday, October 31. An opening reception will be held Saturday, October 9, from 2 to 8 p.m. The artists will be present to discuss the creative processes they use.

John Treichler has had 2 photographs accepted into the Philadelphia Sketch Club PHOTOgraphy 2010 Exhibition. The juried exhibit runs from October 8 through October 23, 2010.

Founded in 1860, the Philadelphia Sketch Club is America’s oldest artists club. Exhibits and interest in fine art photography have existed at the Sketch Club from its earliest days. One of its founders, John L. Gihon, pursued photography as an art form as did other notable members to include Thomas Eakins, George B. Wood, William Shewell Ellis and Richard Dooner. Lectures at the Club’s monthly meeting have also focused on photography with the most notable being by Professor Eadweard Muybridge who did experimental photography of action subjects.

An Artists’ Reception will be held on Sunday, October 17, from 2 to 4 PM. Gallery hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 PM. Admission is free. You could call it a road show, but artist Rich Harrington and photographer John Treichler have titled it “New Jersey Blues.” It’s their joint exhibit honoring the view from New Jersey’s many byways and highways.

As you’d expect, there are urban street scenes and picturesque farmsteads. There are also cowboys and Indians, buffalo and wolves. Take a few months to explore New Jersey as Harrington and Treichler have, and there’s no telling what you’ll see.

Andrew Werth receives 2 awards

Artists’ Gallery artist Andrew Werth received two awards recently for his colorful, mark-filled abstract paintings. In “Face Value”, a portrait show of artists from TAWA (the Trenton Artists Workshop Association) that is up through September 5 at the Trenton City Museum @ Ellarslie, Andrew’s “The Self” received a Best in Show award. That painting includes a nested double portrait of the artist that references themes of duality and containment.

At Muse Gallery’s summer juried exhibition in Philadelphia (up through August 29), Andrew’s painting “The Reality Problem” received a second place prize from the juror. This piece contains a perspective composition of “impossible triangles” and is about how our minds somehow manage to create a model that provides us with a usable representation of the real world.

Friday Night Fireworks in Lambertville / New Hope

For something completely different this summer, Lambertville and New Hope are having fireworks over the Delaware River every Friday night at 9:30 pm, now through Labor Day.

Artists' Gallery is staying open late on Fridays so if you're in town to see the fireworks, stop by the gallery and say hello. Gallery hours are normally 11am to 6pm, but for the Friday Fireworks we'll be open 11am to around 10pm.

The fireworks are shot from a barge in the middle of the river, just below the Bridge Street bridge and the show really is pretty spectacular. So get a head start on the Fourth of July weekend and come to Lambertville this Friday night, July 2, see some art and some fireworks!

John Treichler's work is on display as part of 4 Elements at Gallery 125 in Trenton. The juried exhibit will be on display from June11 through June 25. Gallery 125 will be closing for good after the event due to a lack of funding, ending a six year run that showcased local visual artists.

The annual Ellarslie Open at the Trenton City Museum and Artworks in Trenton . As usual, the Artists' Gallery is pretty well represented. Accepted into Ellarslie Open XXVIII were works by Jennifer Cadoff, Jo-Ann Osnoe and Andrew Werth, as well as two pieces by John Treichler. Accepted into the Salon Show were additional works by Jennifer Cadoff and John Treichler.

Juror Michael Cagno chose to include original artwork selected from 576 submissions. Trenton City Museum Director Brian Hill declares that this years' Ellarslie Open at Ellarslie and at Artworks will be like no other. For the first time, the juror selected works for both exhibits. The edgier work selected for Artworks in tandem with the more classical disciplines at Ellarslie has created two individual exhibitions worthy of either venue.

The exhibit at Artworks runs April 23 - June 1, with an Opening reception Friday, April 23 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. The exhibit at Ellarslie Mansion opens April 24 - June 20, with an Opening reception Saturday, May 1, 6:00 to 9:00 pm

Maple Syrup, Right Around the Corner

Only recently have I discovered that great maple syrup is made right here in New Jersey and, even better, right in Hopewell Township. For years I was convinced that there was something unique to Vermont that made its syrup the only worthy one in the U.S. My first inkling otherwise came a couple of years ago in the form of the gift of a Mason jar full of excellent sweet stuff from a farm in northeastern Pennsylvania — Spring Hills Farm in Dalton. I could not believe how tasty it was, even better than most from New England and Canada.

Shortly afterwards I began hearing about a small but fine maple sugaring operation in Hopewell with the delightful name Sweet Sourland Farms. Armed with what appeared to be explicit directions off the Internet, I spent a good portion of one Sunday afternoon driving up and down Route 518 in the vicinity of Van Dyke Road, but could not find the right driveway — there was no sign — and I gave up.

Last year, newly determined, I finally tracked down Chuck Katzenbach of Sweet Sourland Farms. I could not have been more impressed with both the man and his syrup. In addition to producing maple syrup, honey, and milled lumber on his site, Katzenbach, Princeton Class of 1971, personally built the log cabin that he and his wife, Constance (“Bru”) call home, and he is an accomplished artist. His abstract paintings will be on exhibit at Artists’ Gallery in Lambertville, opening with a reception on Saturday, April 10.

Katzenbach was out boiling down the last of this year’s sap last week when I spoke with Bru. At that point it was still unknown how many gallons of his brown gold will be available. In a good year Sweet Sourland Farms’ 150 or so taps produce 20 gallons; a bad year yields as few as nine. Katzenbach boils down the sap — it takes about 40 gallons to produce one gallon of syrup — using firewood from the hundreds of pine trees planted on the property decades ago by his father, C. Buckman Katzenbach, also a Princeton alum, Class of 1934, and a surgeon who worked at Hunterdon Medical Center,

Bru reports, “We had a beautiful season that began early this year with that warm spell in January and ended with the warm weather in mid-March.” Sugar maple sap flows only when daytime temperatures are above freezing and nighttime temperatures return to below freezing. “We had wonderfully consistent weather this year,” she says.

All along the Northeast, from Quebec to Pennsylvania, the previous two winters were inauspicious, which caused the price of 100 percent maple syrup to skyrocket — that and the energy costs related to producing it. Bru says that maple syrup is the most energy-intense agricultural product of all, which is why maple syrup producers are always looking to increase efficiency. Over the last year, Chuck Katzenbach has installed a vacuum system developed by New England dairy farmers that drains the sap out more efficiently. “Chuck figured if it’s gentle enough for cows, it does no damage to the trees,” his wife says. He also installed new, smaller taps that automatically close when warm overnight temperatures come along, and built a boiler that uses steam to preheat the sap coming into the 150-gallon boiling tank, which saves energy.

Looking to the future, the Katzenbachs are replacing the pines they use for milled lumber with 100 saplings of an improved variety of sugar maple called Super Sweets. These have been developed through selective breeding over the last 30 years by RPM Ecosystems of Dryden, New York, and the Cornell Sugar Maple Research & Extension, with funds from a USDA grant. “A normal sugar maple has two percent sap,” explains Bru, “but Super Sweets yield eight percent.”

That’s a good thing, because Sweet Sourland Farms has, as she says, “more business than we know what to do with” and even in a good production year their syrup goes fast. The day I spoke with Bru, Gab Carbone of the Bent Spoon was on her way over to pick up seven gallons.

Amazingly, an ounce-to-ounce comparison of the price of Sweet Sourland Farms maple syrup with Vermont maple syrup available in supermarkets and over the Internet shows that the local syrup is on par or even costs less. Here’s the breakdown, half-pint to half-pint: Maple Grove Vermont Syrup, over the Internet: $7.50 (plus shipping), or through Peapod by Stop & Shop: $6. Trader Joe’s Quebec syrup: $6.39 (i.e. $9.99 for a 12.5 ounce bottle). Sweet Sourland Farms Hopewell syrup: $6.

Reflections, an exhibition of colorful, eye-catching abstract paintings by Charles Katzenbach and Andrew Werth, will be on display at Artists' Gallery from Friday, April 9, through Sunday, May 2, 2010. A reception with the artists will be held at the gallery’s new location (18 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ) from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on April's “Second Saturday,” April 10, 2010.

In “Reflections”, Katzenbach and Werth offer viewers a variety of visual experiences through the manipulation of paint, pattern, and surface. As you walk around the gallery, paintings change their appearance depending upon where you stand. In Katzenbach’s oil paintings on glass and mirrors, your angle of view determines which planes of color are revealed and which are hidden, with reflections from one layer interacting with the paint on another. Werth’s acrylic paintings make use of thousands of hand-painted marks of color that the eye integrates differently depending upon how far back you stand from the work. In addition, some works include reflective and pearlescent pigments whose appearance changes as you walk from left to right.

The title of the show, Reflection, also refers to a type of symmetry used by both artists in this exhibition. Katzenbach’s Disorderly Colors, for instance, is reflectively symmetrical in its design both vertically and horizontally, though as the title suggests, not in its dramatic use of color. Werth’s Conceptual Framework has a diagonal reflective symmetry in its geometry, a tessellation of patterns that include rotation and translation as well as reflection.

In addition to these literal reflections, both artists encourage viewers to consider reflections of a more metaphorical kind. Katzenbach has long been fascinated with Tibetan mandalas and the deeply spiritual and symbolic Sri Yantra. Werth’s paintings are often about how our embodied minds make sense of the world and are inspired by his interest in philosophy and cognitive science.

Gratz Gallery has organize an exhibition featuring works by the area’s most prestigious and talented contemporary artists, side-by-side with Pennsylvania Impressionists, The Philadelphia Ten and painters from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. The exhibition, Now & Then, seeks to delineate the push-and-pull of influence and autonomy between the gifted painters of today and the masters of American Art who came before them. The show will include paintings by more than a dozen contemporary painters, including Artists' Gallery's Materese Roche.

Joe Kazimierczyk works in a style of traditional realism and his work has consistently won awards in many of the region's juried art shows. In this exhibition, Mr Kazimierczyk's new work continues his explorations of the local countryside for which he is know, but with a greater emphasis on atmospheric effects and cloudscapes than in his past work.

After 15 years at it's location on Coryell Street, Artists' Gallery has moved to a new location at 18 Bridge Street in the heart of Lambertville. A Blank Canvas

Some artists are intimidated by a blank canvas - that vast expanse of white just waiting to be filled... will it be a masterpiece, or something less?

Artists' Gallery is now faced with our own blank canvas - the new space for our gallery. There is much work to be done but it's not intimidating at all - it's exciting! And it will be our new masterpiece!

Besides moving our furniture and supplies, we're putting a lot of thought into the lighting we choose, the signage for the outside of the building, the general layout and wall rotation scheme, and countless other details. So many of the procedures that we had down pat after 15 years at Coryell Street, we'll have to reinvent and see how they work in the new space - the layout is very different than our old space, as you'll see when you get here.

Less than 2 weeks away is our first day of business at 18 Bridge Street: Friday, March 5, 11am - 6pm.

The Grand Reopening reception will be Saturday, March 13, from 5pm - 8pm.

We will continue to run 2-person shows every month, and our first show at 18 Bridge Street will be "Local Color" - landscape paintings by Michael Schweigart and Joe Kazimierczyk. We'll share more information about this show very soon.

Sunday, Feb 14, from 2-5pm is the closing reception for our group show "All Together Now". It's also our last day at 32 Coryell Street.

Beginning Monday, Feb 15, Artists' Gallery is closed for 2 weeks while we relocate our business to 18 Bridge Street - a larger venue right in the heart of town. Our fist day of business on Bridge Street will be Friday, March 5, with a reception for our Grand Reopening on Saturday, March 13, from 5-8 pm.

He is now sharing his insights and techniques for discovering, exploring and learning to draw the awesome Sri Yantra. Please pre-register. Two of John Treichler's photographs have been selected for display in ONWARD ‘10, an annual juried photography competition exclusively featuring the work of new and emerging photographers with unique vision and talent.

This year there were a stunning 1,666 entries from 418 individual artists. Submissions came from all over the United States as well as 7 other countries, and the standard of submitted work was very high. Only 73 images by 40 artists were selected to be included by guest juror Debbie Fleming Cafferty, noted documentary photographer whose work can be found in the collections of the Smithsonian, MOMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. She has also received numerous awards including the first Lou Stoumen Prize in 1996 and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2005.

Artists Gallery is Moving

The opening reception for our current show "All Together Now" was a great success. We're greatful that so many former gallery members were able to exhibit in the show and to join us at the opening. I don't see how it could possibly have been any more fun than it was.

Some news that you may not have heard yet: this is the last show we're having at 32 Coryell Street, where the gallery has been for the past 15 years. So if you haven't been to the gallery in a while, or if you haven't yet seen the current show, you have 3 week left to see it.

In March, Artists' Gallery is moving to 18 Bridge Street, just a few blocks away, but a larger space and right in the heart of town. You'll hear more about this later, but the schedule is:

We remain open at 32 Coryell Street until Sunday, Feb 14, when we have a closing reception for "All Together Now" from 2-5pm
After that, we're closed 2 weeks to move the gallery
Friday, March 5, 11am-6pm is our first day of business at the new location on 18 Bridge Street.

The Lambertville - New Hope Winter Festival is the weekend of January 27 to 31, 2010. This year Carol Sanzalone was invited to create a painting of the bridge that will appear on the festival note cards available for purchase throughout the festival. The artist will be at many of the events throughout the festival displaying the painting and giclee fine art prints of the work. These will also be available for purchase.

With degrees in Studio Art and Graphic Design, her work has been included in many solo and group shows throughout the Northeast. She is a member of the Artists' Gallery, where her work has been exhibited since 2006. In July, she will be a featured artist at the new Artists' Gallery location at 18 Bridge Street in Lambertville.

Please join us for our opening celebration on Sunday March 7th from 2:00 to 5:00.

"All Together Now" celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Artists' Gallery by featuring the work of current and former members. The exhibit runs from Jan 8th through February 14th. Please join current members and artists who have been part of the gallery during our 15 year history at the opening reception on January 16th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

The exhibit kicks off the 15th year anniversary celebration at the gallery. The artwork represented is a collection of abstract, modernist, Impressionist, and traditional realist art in a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, photography and glass sculpture.

Patrons of the gallery will be delighted to see the work of returning members back in the gallery during the exhibit. Among those on display are works by Joyce Barth, Rick Brown, Cato, Suzanne Pitak Davis, Gordon Haas, T.A.
