If you’re looking for something exciting to do in early September, please join Florence Moonan at the opening reception for "Dangerous Women Two" (DW2) at Mercer County Community College, Saturday, September 8 from 2 - 5 pm.
DW2 will feature the work of 70 outstanding contemporary women artists from the tri-state area. Each artist has selected one "Dangerous Woman" from the early 20th century as her inspiration. Gallery curator, Tricia Fagan provided the list and invited artists to create a new piece of art as an homage to their selected artist's life, art, or philosophy. Florence selected Dorothy Fields, songwriter, lyricist, and librettist. She was excited to discover that Dorothy and her brother Herb had written the book for Annie Get Your Gun. She says, "I felt an immediate connection because this is the first show in which my sister, Joyce, and I performed as children in the Lambertville Music Circus in the early 1950s." Her 3-dimensional mixed media collage is called "Dorothy Fields and Me: Doin' What Comes Natur'lly".
The exhibition runs September 4 through October 6, 2007. For more details please visit the MCCC Gallery website.
Hope to see you there. Then stop by the Artist's Gallery later that evening for the opening reception of our next show, "Finding the Extra in the Ordinary."
