Vibrant Views - the art of TingTing Hsu and Michael Schweigart

Vibrant Views
TingTing Hsu and Michael Schweigart

September 10 to October 4, 2026
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 12, 5-7 pm

Artists’ Gallery is pleased to present Vibrant Views, recent paintings by TingTing Hsu and Michael Schweigart, highlighting the beauty and contemplation found in landscape art. Both artists offer intimate depictions that invite the audience to contemplate nature’s vibrant views and quiet harmony.

TingTing Hsu: I have long been drawn to painting the water and landscapes around us—from the familiar paths of the D&R Canal to the scenic views from my travels. I am fascinated by how quickly colors shift and how light transforms a scene. Over time, I realized that I am not just painting these places, but the memories attached to them. Whether capturing a quiet spot close to home or a new corner of the world, these works are records of time and moments shared with the people I love.

Michael Schweigart: “Through my paintings, I strive to capture the ephemeral beauty of fleeting moments, and the profound stillness that can be found within them. My creative process is a journey of discovery, where intuition and spontaneity guide my hand, allowing me to navigate the uncharted territories of my imagination. Each piece I create is an invitation to the viewer to embark on the journey and engage with the work on a sensory and emotional level.”

Still & Wild - Beatrice Bork and Michael Schweigart

Still & Wild
Beatrice Bork and Michael Schweigart

This show runs from May 8, 2025 until June 1, 2025
Opening Reception: Saturday, May 10, 5-8 pm

This exhibition highlights the beauty and contemplation found in animal and landscape art. Both artists offer intimate depictions that invite viewers to explore nature's stillness and wildness in harmony.

Beatrice Bork: "Within my genre of animal art, I strive to create watercolor paintings that go beyond representation—each work is both an intimate observation and an expressive interpretation, balancing realism with personal reflection, guided by a deep reverence for my subjects. Ultimately, I hope to offer a space for reflection—one that inspires a deeper connection and a renewed appreciation for the natural world, its many nuances, and the animals with whom we share it."

Michael Schweigart: "Through my paintings, I strive to capture the ephemeral beauty of fleeting moments and the profound stillness that can be found within them. My creative process is a journey of discovery, where intuition and spontaneity guide my hand, allowing me to navigate the uncharted territories of my imagination. Each piece I create is an invitation to the viewer to embark on their own personal journey, to engage with the work on a sensory and emotional level."

Immersion - the art of Beatrice Bork and Michael Schweigart

Immersion
Beatrice Bork and Michael Schweigart

April 4 to May 5, 2024
Opening Reception: Saturday, April 6, 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Artistic Innovation and Nature's Splendor: A Unique Approach to Animal and Landscape Connections

Beatrice Bork delves deeper into nature close to heart and home in this exhibit. Her watercolors go beyond her meticulously rendered subjects, with underlying themes that make her art both poetic and captivating. In regard to her work, she comments, "The careful rendering of my subject and it’s character, for me, is a reflection of love and respect I have for animals. The themes in my paintings are imbued with personal reflection—and tend to resonate with nostalgia, humor, hope or a moment in time."

Michael Schweigart explores new dimensions in artistic processes, particularly in the early stages of painting. His intricate landscapes and seascapes, are rooted in familiar scenes, and take on a breathtakingly fresh perspective. Schweigart combines multiple views of a scene, remaining true to the essence of the place. In his own words, "Some of the work I have for this show involves new ways in the process... My goal is to pay more attention to space, atmosphere and light with the result of added depth and a moody luminous quality to the work."

Don't miss the chance to experience the beauty of nature through the eyes of these two exceptional artists.

Here & There - the art of Claudia Fouse Fountaine and Michael Schweigart

Here & There
Claudia Fouse Fountaine and Michael Schweigart

Exhibit: - September 7 to October 3
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 9, 4-7 pm

In this exhibit you’ll see the remarkable works of Claudia Fouse Fountaine and Michael Schweigart. Visit Tuscany, the coast of Maine and other special places as the artists take you on a visual voyage.

Claudia Fouse Fountaine has been painting local subjects for years now; the farms, gardens, and animals she's surrounded by in Bucks County. Lately traveling has given her the chance to depict a wider range of images, whether it's the rolling hills of Tuscany, or just a Manhattan Street scene. Either way, ultimately it's the vibrant light and energy Fountaine brings to her work that draw you in, whatever the subject.

Michael Schweigart can find inspiration just about anywhere he goes and relishes taking the road less traveled whenever possible with a focus on what characterizes a region. Like many he has a deep appreciation for nature. It provides a constant source of ideas to explore. Scenes of coastal Maine and parts of eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey make up the bulk of his work. Schweigart’s studio work is often a composite of memory, plein air sketches, and photographic images to paint specific places, naturalistically. Much of his work is inspired by trips to Maine, a favorite place to paint.

Please visit the event website for additional information.

And don't forget - along with our featured exhibit, all 16 of our professional artists continuously have their work on exhibit - there is new work here every month. We welcome your visits!

Along the Road
Bill Jersey and Michael Schweigart

Exhibit: September 8 - October 2, 2022
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 10, 5-8 pm

Bill Jersey and Michael Schweigart bring together two different approaches to painting the landscape, and their impact together is dynamic. Bill’s bold impressionistic color harmonies and broad brushwork excite the senses, and his color and light patterns create complex compositions. While Michael’s palette is subtle with natural colors blending light and shadow that build texture and develop detail. “Along the Road” brings together the best of both styles with compelling scenes of their time and places.

Featuring
Michael Schweigart
and
Maxine Shore

September 10 - October 4, 2020

Michael Schweigart and Maxine Shore could not be more different in their approach to painting the landscape, but their impact together is dynamic. Maxine's bold color harmonies excite the senses and her geometric shapes and light patterns create complex compositions. Michael's palette is subtle with natural muted tones of light and shadow and a sharp focus on detail.

"Environments" brings together the best of both styles and you know what they say, "opposites attract".

Joe Kazimierczyk gathers inspiration from his hiking trips as he wanders the forests and mountains of northern New Jersey.

Points of View - the art of Carol Sanzalone and Michael Schweigart

"Points of View"

new works by
Carol Sanzalone
and
Michael Schweigart

September 7 - October 1, 2017
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 9, 4-7 pm
Closing Tea and Conversation: Sunday, October 1, 3-6 pm

Our September exhibit features work by Carol Sanzalone and Michael Schweigart. Painting images of the natural world with unique and personal "Points of View", both artists share a creative delight in capturing an image with glorious color and marvelous textures.

Working in watercolor and acrylic, Carol focuses on the graphic quality of the subject using transparent washes of color. The way that natural light and shadows enliven and enrich everyday images, and create wonderful shapes and textures, inspires her work. Carol's paintings have been exhibited widely in solo, group and invitational exhibits. She has taught art and worked in Graphic Design for many years. When she creates a work, or considers a subject, she is always drawing on that history.

Traveling near and far, Michael is inspired by things he encounters along the way. He works in acrylic and oil approaching subjects from his unique perspective. Schweigart combines technique and medium to craft paintings that depict cityscapes, seascapes and bucolic landscapes. His works display texture and atmosphere, with a presence of man and a sense of place. Michael has been exhibiting his work in galleries and museums throughout the northeast and beyond for over thirty years.

The edge of a grassy field, the transparent reflected colors of the season or a still life from nature, are images that Carol and Michael explore, each with a personal creative vision and unique approach to developing a point of view. This exhibit is not to be missed!

April 7 - May 1, 2016

Opening Reception: Saturday April 9, 5-8:30 pm
Homage to Earth Day: Friday, April 22, 6-8:30pm

Explore the expressive and detailed paintings by renowned artists, Beatrice Bork and Michael Schweigart, in this wonderful featured exhibit celebrating nature "Wild in Detail" at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville, NJ this April.

Beatrice and Michael have built their professional (collectively over 50 year) careers with their thoughtful interpretations of the passions that inspire them. While both artists are similar in their contemplative and highly personal approach, they do, however, focus on different subjects that nature offers.

Beatrice enjoys immersing herself in the thought and planning that is required with watercolor, but also relishes in its poetic qualities. "My curiosity is satiated through careful portrayal, which in turn reflects the love and respect I have for my subjects. The malleable qualities of this medium, allow me to focus on elements that are important to the painting." As a professional artist, she has amassed numerous honors including recognition by the prestigious Society of Animal Artists and Artists for Conservation with signature status as well as the Eckelberry Award, specifically for bird art. Her paintings have been exhibited in various international exhibits and publications throughout the US and Canada, and are collected throughout the world. To learn more about Beatrice, go to www.beatricebork.artspan.com.

Michael continues to be inspired by the natural landscape and has broadened his scope with paintings of urban street scenes as well as the human figure. "I'm always interested in new subject matter to expand my visual horizons. No matter what I choose to paint it's all about creating believable paintings. The underlying abstract shapes that are the foundation for my work are accentual to the naturalistic qualities many have come to identify with my work." He has been exhibiting his paintings for 3 decades in galleries and museums throughout New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York City. His paintings have won numerous awards and are included in many public and private collections.

It's fitting to have Beatrice and Michael exhibit during April, the month that celebrates Earth Day, so Please join us for an "Homage to Earth Day" Friday, April 22, 6-8:30pm
