Quietude - new works by Joe Kazimierczyk and Joseph Zogorski

"Quietude"
new works by
Joe Kazimierczyk
and
Joseph Zogorski

November 7 - December 1
Opening Reception: Saturday, November 9, 4-7 pm

Artists' Gallery is pleased to present "Quietude", an exhibit of landscape paintings by Joe Kazimierczyk and photographs by Joseph Zogorski.

Quietude is defined as the state of being calm; peacefulness; stillness; tranquility. The artwork of Kazimierczyk and Zogorski embodies this feeling as each artist finds his inspiration in the quiet and serenity of the world around us - it's there if you look for it!

Joe Kazimierczyk's oil paintings are inspired by the scenes he encounters while exploring the mountains and forests of northern New Jersey. An avid hiker, his work in this show focuses on the trails, rivers and streams he finds in parks ranging from the Sourland Mountains to the Delaware Water Gap, and points in between.

For Joseph Zogorski, pockets of remaining rural countryside in his native Bucks County and contiguous regions of New Jersey often impart a sense of reflection and serenity. The lives of his ancestors- who settled here in the early 1900s- and their stories of living in a community closely tied to the land, plus imaginings of the native people who lived here previously, often help to inform his image making.

Take a break from the hectic world this November and experience some "Quietude" at Artists' Gallery.

And don't forget - along with our featured exhibit,

Visual Harmony - new works by Gail Bracegirdle and Carol Sanzalone

"Visual Harmony"
New Works by
Gail Bracegirdle
and
Carol Sanzalone

October 10 - November 3
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 12, 4-7 pm

Paintings by member artists Gail Bracegirdle and Carol Sanzalone, will be featured at Artists' Gallery from October 10th to November 3rd. Their paintings express their creative delight in the glorious colors and textures of the images that inspire their work. The "Visual Harmony"" of their paintings is the focus of this featured exhibit.

Carol Sanzalone will showcase paintings done in watercolor and acrylic on paper. Paintings that express the graphic beauty of the seasons created with transparent washes of color to convey her visual impression of nature in and around the Delaware Valley. Experience in graphic design, work in oils and printmaking in silkscreen, as well as teaching art for many years, Carol is always drawing on that creative history in her paintings on exhibit.

Gail Bracegirdle enjoys exploring different ways of painting with watercolors on various surfaces.  Most of the works on display in this exhibit focus on the flowing affects that come about when using watercolor paper with a gessoed surface.  The subjects range from florals & still life images to views on location.  Since 1993, Gail has also been teaching watercolor painting and finds it to be a wonderfully enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Ghosts - new works by Joseph DeFay and Richard Harrington

"Ghosts"

New Works by
Joseph DeFay
and
Richard Harrington

September 5 - October 6
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 14, 4-7 pm

"Ghosts", was initially proposed by Rich Harrington after looking at Joseph DeFay's photos of obsolete machinery.

"I was struck by how Joe captures the beauty of something that others look at as scrap metal or junk," Harrington said. "I see the same thing in a car or truck that has been parked behind a building, or left to rust away in a field."

The artists' shared interest in locales and objects that bear evidence of past lives is what led them to plan their joint show.

Dreaming in Color - new works by Debbie Pisacreta and Maxine Shore

"Dreaming in Color"
new works by
Debbie Pisacreta
and
Maxine Shore

August 8 - September 1, 2019
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 10, 5-7 pm

Fine artists Debbie Pisacreta and Maxine Shore will exhibit paintings expressing their personal visions in this show.

"The title of this show, Dreaming in Color, expresses my remembrance of things past." says Shore. "My visions of places or events I have experienced, seen through my mind's eye, are conveyed in the vivid colors that I love to use in my work. Areas of New York city, scenes of my travels through Europe and the US, recollections of places Ihave lived come rushing back to me when selecting the subjects of my paintings. I am grateful that I have had a chance to capture these memories and hope you will enjoy exploring them through my paintings."

Pisacreta says "I have always had an emotional response to color. When painting on location I am fascinated by the subtle shifts in color and how the colors change in different lighting conditions and in relationship to other colors in the scene. My paintings are my attempt at creating a visual language that expresses the colors, shapes and emotions I feel while observing a specific location."

and
Laura Rutherford Renner

July 4 - August 4, 2019
Opening Reception: Saturday, July 6, 5-8:30 pm
"Breathing In", features acclaimed artists, Beatrice Bork and Laura Rutherford Renner. The exhibit will be a visual ode to the everyday inspirations that life continually gifts us. Working in their respective mediums of watercolor and oil, the fine art displayed will include our precious canine and feline friends who entwine themselves into our hearts and make everyday a little better-along with birds & animals, and contemporary life that both artists are so well known for.

"I love the focus of this show, because it explores subjects that consistently inspire me, moments of gratitude in everyday splendors, and expressing them through my paintings" says Bork.

"Capturing a snapshot of living forms in two dimensions on a slab of smoothly prepared wood is a contemplative exercise and a source of calm", says Renner. "I relish mixing pure colors, keeping my palette simple to create authenticity of what is observed, not assumed".

All are welcome to join the artists at the opening reception Saturday, July 6, from 5 to 8:30 pm. Artists' Gallery is located in the heart of Lambertville at 18 Bridge Street, with regular hours: 11am - 6pm Thursday through Sunday.

Unstill Life - new works by Alla Podolsky and Annelies van Dommelen

"Unstill Life"
new works by
Alla Podolsky
and
Annelies van Dommelen

June 6 - June 30, 2019
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 15, 4-7 pm

The spaces, memories, and people that move and transform us are the focus of the work by Annelies vanDommelen and Alla Podolsky at Artists' Gallery this month.

Annelies van Dommelen's training is formal, obtained from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, amongst other schools, workshops and residencies. Her vision, however, departs from a strict reality.

Annelies's work encompasses more than one medium. It is both abstract and figurative. "I am deeply inspired by natures forms and colors but I am not one who will reproduce it, I respond to it and by memory or osmosis or invention animals, insects, human figures or blooms of my design will occupy the work which then creates a sort of story line for both the viewer and myself to follow."

Alla Podolsky's work is all about life as we see it, as we internalize it, as we remember it. "I paint people, places, events, objects, emotions. All living, in constant motion, even when being still. The transformation happens when we observe, when we interpret, when we remember, and color those experiences with our own perceptions. Things change so constantly, even the ways we remember them. Life is never still, and my aim is to transfer the moments of unstillness with as much exuberance as I see around me."

Both artists are excited to have their works exhibited side-by-side. They share aesthetic sensibilities and the love of the painting mediums. Even though their approaches differ, there are connections and parallels that make for the dynamic and interesting visual dialog.

  April 4 - May 5, 2019
Opening Reception: Saturday, April 6, 3-6 pm

Please join us for "The Other Side", featuring the artwork of Jane Adriance and Alan Klawans.

Jane and Alan use different mediums to express themselves from different points of view. Alan uses his computer and a digital camera to depict strong and bold abstractions to create a visual story from his everyday experience. Jane Adriance paints with watercolors and her point of view is to paint startling contradictions between her everyday experience and the unknown.

Both of these artists invite a dialogue between the observer and the work of art. The result brings pleasure as well as inquiry.
