A Creative Journey - Gail Bracegirdle and Carol Sanzalone

A Creative Journey

A Creative Journey
Gail Bracegirdle and Carol Sanzalone

Exhibit: - June 8 to July 2, 2023
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 10, 4-7 pm

In memory of Gail Bracegirdle, a special featured gallery exhibit with Carol Sanzalone will be showcased for the month of June. Inspired by images in nature, and the exciting patterns of life, this unique exhibit highlights a variety of creative techniques by two talented watercolor artists.

Gail Bracegirdle’s paintings express the “environmentally sensitive nature of the medium,” as she presented images with color and texture in watercolor. The variations she created, allow for the capture of the visual characteristics of each image, and share her interest in the subject.

Carol Sanzalone will be exhibiting her watercolor and acrylic works. Her paintings visually express the light, shadow and color patterns that enrich images, both realistically and abstractly, to express her impression of a subject. She is always drawing on those experiences on her Creative Journey.

Please visit the event website for additional information.

And don't forget - along with our featured exhibit, all 16 of our professional artists continuously have their work on exhibit - there is new work here every month. We welcome your visits!

Gail Bracegirdle and Joe Kazimierczyk

Exhibit: August 4 - September 4, 2022
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 6, 5-8 pm

Water-colorist Gail Bracegirdle and oil painter Joe Kazimierczyk are exhibiting together in "Light & Shadow", their second show together.

Gail enjoys exploring different ways of painting with watercolors by experimenting with textures and working on various watercolor papers. She always begins with a subject in mind and then 'gets creative'.

Joe's landscape paintings are a natural extension of his hiking and cycling trips as he explores and searches out new places for inspiration. His artwork is a distillation of his experiences of a place, and the resulting paintings are somewhere between reality, memory and imagination.

January 7 - 31, 2021

Artists' Gallery will be showing work by Gail Bracegirdle and Claudia Fouse Fountaine from January 7 to 31 in the exhibition "A Clear Light."

Gail Bracegirdle enjoys working in watercolors because of the environmentally sensitive nature of the medium. She likes to experiment with various textures and types of watercolor papers and pigments to create specific effects. The subjects vary, depending on each day’s distractions.

Claudia Fouse Fountaine is an award-winning Bucks County artist known for her colorful depictions of animals, interiors, and local landscapes. Visual Harmony - new works by Gail Bracegirdle and Carol Sanzalone

"Visual Harmony"
New Works by
Gail Bracegirdle
and
Carol Sanzalone

October 10 - November 3
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 12, 4-7 pm

Paintings by member artists Gail Bracegirdle and Carol Sanzalone, will be featured at Artists' Gallery from October 10th to November 3rd. Their paintings express their creative delight in the glorious colors and textures of the images that inspire their work. The "Visual Harmony"" of their paintings is the focus of this featured exhibit.

Carol Sanzalone will showcase paintings done in watercolor and acrylic on paper. Paintings that express the graphic beauty of the seasons created with transparent washes of color to convey her visual impression of nature in and around the Delaware Valley. Experience in graphic design, work in oils and printmaking in silkscreen, as well as teaching art for many years, Carol is always drawing on that creative history in her paintings on exhibit.

Gail Bracegirdle enjoys exploring different ways of painting with watercolors on various surfaces.  Most of the works on display in this exhibit focus on the flowing affects that come about when using watercolor paper with a gessoed surface.  The subjects range from florals & still life images to views on location.  Since 1993, Gail has also been teaching watercolor painting and finds it to be a wonderfully enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Life as We See It - new works by Gail Bracegirdle and Alla Podolsky

"Life as We See It"
new works by
Gail Bracegirdle
and
Alla Podolsky
  May 10 - June 3, 2018
Opening Reception: Saturday, May 12, 4-8 pm

The narrative of our past and present, as we see it and interpret it, is the subject of the new works shown at Artists' Gallery in "Life as We See It".

Gail Bracegirdle, a graduate of Moore College of Art & Design, has focused on watercolors for over 25 years. "I feel that being an artist means that my job is to record what I see around me. The subjects evolve with the influence of light, weather, seasons and locations. Looking around my studio as I'm working is like reading my diary."

Alla Podolsky's work lends itself to interpretive narrative. "I paint events, as I experienced them, as I remember them, as I process them. Sometimes it's a direct interpretation and other times it's distorted and impacted by my feelings and memories. As artists, we inevitably change things just by observing and translating them into our work. This is what art is to me: translation. Of experiences, moments, emotions. It's life as we see it, inherently different from anyone else's perspective."

Born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine, Alla Podolsky traces her love of psychological painting to the Byzantine-style iconography of that city. She is a graduate of Moore College of Art and Design, and holds a master's degree in painting from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

"Quiet Spaces" recent works by Gail Bracegirdle and Debbie Pisacreta

"Quiet Spaces"
recent works by
Gail Bracegirdle
and
Debbie Pisacreta

May 4 - June 4, 2017
Opening Reception: Saturday May 13, 4-8 pm

Both Gail and Debbie's paintings evoke a quiet and calm feeling where the choice of subjects and the use of muted palettes contribute to the sense of contemplation and reflection that both artists feel when they paint.

Gail Bracegirdle's watercolors are filled with light and color. She prefers to work from life or from sketches made on location in order to observe the effects of direct and reflected light and shadow on her subject. Gail's goal in painting is "to capture the illusion of movement or sound, a quiet moment, a momentary pleasure, an intriguing juxtaposition of images, light and shadow."

Debbie Pisacreta also works directly from life. A plein-air landscape painter from Lambertville, her oil paintings depict the gentleness of the town, the river, and the surrounding farms. Debbie says "I paint on location as much as possible and often make multiple sketches and studies for my painting until I feel I have captured my emotional connection with the scene. My goal is to create a visual story that communicates the feeling of that place and time."

Visit the event website for more information about this show.

And don't forget - while we feature 2 artists each month,
all 16 Artists' Gallery artists have work on display,

On the Road - the artwork of Gail Bracegirdle and Richard Harrington

"On the Road"
featuring Gail Bracegirdle
 and Richard Harrington

 July 7 - July 31, 2016

Opening Reception: Saturday July 16,  4-8 pm
Closing Reception: Sunday July 31,  2-6 pm

Artists Gail Bracegirdle and Richard Harrington, are pleased to announce the opening of their joint show, "On The Road", on Thursday, July 7th, at Artists' Gallery. The exhibit, which runs through Sunday, July 31st, features watercolor, acrylic, and oil paintings by the two artists, who were influenced by their road trips and travels through different places like Australia and along old Route 66 in the southwestern US. A reception with the artists will be held on Saturday, July 16, from 4 to 8 pm. Additionally, both artists will also be at the Gallery for a closing reception on Sunday, July 31st, 2 to 6 PM.

Gail Bracegirdle, who maintains her studio in Bristol, PA, often uses the sights from her travels as the starting point for her work. "My inspiration for all these paintings has been that I was there, and would like to share my visual experience with others. I always have a sketchbook, watercolors and my camera with me, so can do a sketch and take a photo whenever I'm inspired." The work exhibited by Bracegirdle includes scenes from recent trips to Australia, and the textures and surfaces in her paintings reflect her career and training as a textile designer. "All of the finished paintings are in watercolor, but I do enjoy experimenting with various types of papers" said Bracegirdle. "When I was an undergraduate at Moore College of Art, I was fortunate in that Ranulph Bye was my watercolor instructor. With my major not being in fine art at that time, my artwork has certainly taken me in many different directions and I continue to experiment, but have always appreciated his style and the quality of his paintings".

Richard Harrington, from Newtown PA, finds his inspiration for his work in urban and semi-rural areas. "I like recording what others may pass by" said Harrington. "I am often not interested in what is on the main streets of a town or a city, or the attractions highlighted by the local chamber of commerce; I enjoy driving the side streets and along the edges of towns, and finding an old car or truck parked behind buildings."

Harrington has worked as an illustrator for over 30 years, and is an Associate Professor of Illustration at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. His training and practice also is evident in the work he creates. "I always work from photographs; my scenes are often precise, and since my subject matter often involves specific vehicles in these scenes, I strive to make them very accurate" said Harrington. "Even if a vehicle is very rusty and has seen better days, I know there is a subtle difference between a 1949 and a 1950 Ford. Viewers who also know those models will notice that detail, and I try to be conscious of that as I create these paintings".

Both Richard Harrington and Gail Bracegirdle have been longtime members of the Artists' Gallery; Harrington joined in 2007, while Bracegirdle has been represented by the gallery since 1997.
