East and West - the art of Richard Harrington and Debbie Pisacreta

East and West
Richard Harrington and Debbie Pisacreta

Exhibit: - October 5 to November 5
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 7, 4-7 pm

"East and West" features work by Richard Harrington and Debbie Pisacreta inspired by trips to the Eastern and Western parts of the US.

An exhibition focusing on works based on the travels in opposite directions was first proposed by Harrington. "I took a Sabbatical from my position as Professor of Illustration at Moore College of Art and Design in the Fall of 2021. As part of my sabbatical project, I traveled across the US, taking the Lincoln Highway from Philadelphia to Sacramento, California, and returning East following old Route 66." said Harrington. 'I have always admired the work Debbie created on her trips to paint in Maine and New England, and I thought showing our work from the East and the West together would make a nice exhibition.'

Debbie's passion is plein air painting. "I love being outside observing light, colors, and movement so I choose to paint on site. Being in the environment inspires me to create unique compositions that reflect what I consider special about the location. I use my skills as an artist to translate the scene to the canvas, capturing my emotional response." Her work has been included in prestigious juried art shows such as the Ellarslie Open and Phillips Mill. In addition to paintings from Maine, her favorite place to paint, paintings of local scenes and Umbria, Italy, will also be included.

Please visit the event website for additional information.

And don't forget - along with our featured exhibit, all 16 of our professional artists continuously have their work on exhibit - there is new work here every month. We welcome your visits!

Painting the Light - the art of Jane Adriance and Debbie Pisacreta

Painting the Light
Jane Adriance and Debbie Pisacreta

Exhibit: November 10 - December 4, 2022
Opening Reception: Saturday, November 12, 4-7 pm

This exhibit explores the quality of light in both abstract and representational paintings. Jane continues her journey to create juxtapositions of different visual observations with light and color. "Light determines the color, composition, and the story being told. I have combined representative and abstract elements in the same context as well as pure abstractions in oils and mixed media. At times I think this becomes a sensual journey of mystery. Hopefully the observer will find a springboard to fantasy as well as aesthetic pleasure."

Primarily a plein air painter, Debbie is fascinated with capturing light, especially when it is most dramatic during early morning or evening hours. "Painting on location is an immersive experience for me. I remember the sounds, smells and feel of each location. My paintings represent my emotional response to the scenes. This show includes local scenes as well as images from New York state, Cape Cod Massachusetts, and Monhegan Island in Maine. I enjoy observing the differences in the colors and light in each of these locations, but my heart belongs to Monhegan as its natural beauty has been preserved."

Please visit the event website for more images and additional information.

And don't forget - along with our featured exhibit, all 16 of our professional artists continuously have their work on exhibit - there is new work here every month. We welcome your visits!

The evening of our reception, November 12, is also the third of of four planned Second Saturdays in Lambertville, with twenty-two businesses participating from 5-8 pm. Artists' Gallery will be open till 8 pm this Saturday.

Reflection - the art of Jane Adriance and Debbie Pisacreta

 "Reflection"
Featuring
Jane Adriance
and
Debbie Pisacreta

November 5 - December 6, 2020

The Pandemic, and the resulting quarantine, forced each of us to be isolated more. For Jane Adriance and Debbie Pisacreta, this was a time of quiet reflection which affected the kind of paintings they produced, and the emotions they felt when painting.

"The title of this exhibit seems very fitting for me," said Jane. "Since last March with the pandemic 'shut down' and my isolation I needed to stop and reflect about the life I had taken for granted. While life seemed so sad and frightening to so many others as well as myself ... I discovered a silver lining. In my appreciation for being alive, I followed a dream (with no excuses now) to return to the sensual use of painting with oils. I had been painting with watercolors for many decades. I was ready for this challenge and new perspective.

I am hoping you will enjoy my first exhibit of these oil paintings as much as I am grateful to have opened this door for me again."

Debbie has always found her inspiration and joy from plein air painting, but that joy was heightened during this last six months. "I was fortunate that I could continue to paint Plein air while still maintaining social distancing. Painting was a respite from all of the sadness and anxiety surrounding the Pandemic and its effects. It gave me a chance to feel peace and to be grateful for the beauty of my surroundings.

I am hopeful that that feeling of serenity is translated to the viewer."

Dreaming in Color - new works by Debbie Pisacreta and Maxine Shore

"Dreaming in Color"
new works by
Debbie Pisacreta
and
Maxine Shore

August 8 - September 1, 2019
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 10, 5-7 pm

Fine artists Debbie Pisacreta and Maxine Shore will exhibit paintings expressing their personal visions in this show.

"The title of this show, Dreaming in Color, expresses my remembrance of things past." says Shore. "My visions of places or events I have experienced, seen through my mind's eye, are conveyed in the vivid colors that I love to use in my work. Areas of New York city, scenes of my travels through Europe and the US, recollections of places Ihave lived come rushing back to me when selecting the subjects of my paintings. I am grateful that I have had a chance to capture these memories and hope you will enjoy exploring them through my paintings."

Pisacreta says "I have always had an emotional response to color. When painting on location I am fascinated by the subtle shifts in color and how the colors change in different lighting conditions and in relationship to other colors in the scene. My paintings are my attempt at creating a visual language that expresses the colors, shapes and emotions I feel while observing a specific location."

Poems of Color - new works by Jane Adriance and Debbie Pisacreta

"Poems of Color"
the art of
Jane Adriance
and
Debbie Pisacreta

  Nov 8 - Dec 2 2018
Opening Reception: Saturday, Nov 10, 5-8:30 pm
Coffee and Conversation: Sunday, Dec 2, 2-5 pm

This exhibit by Jane Adriance and Debbie Pisacreta looks at poetry from a visual perspective. These two artists use shapes and colors instead of words to create visual poems. They introduce images that evoke creative interpretations not only by the artist, but by the viewer as well.

Jane Adriance's "Watercolor Poems" tend towards implied meaning with the intent to go beyond what we are likely to see in everyday life. Sometimes the perspectives are expressions that are startling and contradictory. However, color and dynamic compositions exist in harmony. As a result, a color poem is created that invites a dialogue between the viewer and this painter.

Debbie Pisacreta's oil painted landscapes use color to create mood and atmosphere. Like a Haiku poem, Debbie simplifies the landscape to convey the essence of her emotional connection to the scene. Her goal as a plein air painter is to capture the feeling of a particular place and time.

"Quiet Spaces" recent works by Gail Bracegirdle and Debbie Pisacreta

"Quiet Spaces"
recent works by
Gail Bracegirdle
and
Debbie Pisacreta

May 4 - June 4, 2017
Opening Reception: Saturday May 13, 4-8 pm

Both Gail and Debbie's paintings evoke a quiet and calm feeling where the choice of subjects and the use of muted palettes contribute to the sense of contemplation and reflection that both artists feel when they paint.

Gail Bracegirdle's watercolors are filled with light and color. She prefers to work from life or from sketches made on location in order to observe the effects of direct and reflected light and shadow on her subject. Gail's goal in painting is "to capture the illusion of movement or sound, a quiet moment, a momentary pleasure, an intriguing juxtaposition of images, light and shadow."

Debbie Pisacreta also works directly from life. A plein-air landscape painter from Lambertville, her oil paintings depict the gentleness of the town, the river, and the surrounding farms. Debbie says "I paint on location as much as possible and often make multiple sketches and studies for my painting until I feel I have captured my emotional connection with the scene. My goal is to create a visual story that communicates the feeling of that place and time."

Feels Like Home - Claudia Fouse Fountaine and Debbie Pisacreta

"Feels Like Home"
Claudia Fouse Fountaine
and Debbie Pisacreta

June 9 - July 4, 2016
Opening Reception: Saturday June 11, 4-8 pm

"Feels Like Home" is the perfect title for the June exhibition on view at Artists' Gallery this month. The two artists whose work is on display here not only live close by, but also choose as their subject the beautiful surroundings with which they are blessed.

We see the pastel light and shadow in the Victorian neighborhoods of Lambertville, as well as fields of lavender and local farms in Debbie Pisacreta's tender landscapes.

"I am in love with my town", she says. "I am drawn to a scene not only by the qualities of light and color it has, but also by the quiet feeling it inspires in me".

Claudia Fouse Fountaine's work gives us a glimpse of intimate interiors, as well as animals and farmland in nearby Bucks County.

"My paintings tend to be colorful and lively, with rarely a straight line", says Fountaine. "They are full of energy. Even the inanimate objects seem to be alive".

Both artists have exhibited extensively and won awards locally. This show will be up from June 9th to July 4th, with the Opening Reception being held Saturday, June 11th, 4 - 8pm.

"Feels Like Home" is a delightful interpretation of the bountiful beauty of our area as seen through the eyes of two artists who know it well.

Quiet Life / Wild Life - the artwork of Charles David Viera and Debbie Pisacreta

"Quiet Life / Wild Life"
featuring Charles David Viera and Debbie Pisacreta
November 5 - December 6, 2015
Opening Reception: Saturday, November 7, 4-8 pm

An exhibition of shared inspirations by two well known local artists will be on display at Artists Gallery in Lambertville N.J. this November. Although Debbie Pisacreta's landscape paintings suggest a more quiet reflective quality while Charles David Viera's expressionist animals paintings resonate action they both admit to being inspired by such diverse masters as Matisse, Hopper and Fairfield Porter." I think any one that is familiar with those artists mentioned will see and appreciate our connection when they see the exhibition" says Pisacreta." Both of us try to do as much as we can with color and use it as a vehicle to touch the viewer" adds Viera. "Debbie's oils have a wonderful calm, almost pastel like quality about them while my works are almost violent with slashes of paint and line that I use to suggest movement and power".

This is the first opportunity for the long time friends to exhibit together. Debbie Pisacreta is a resident of Lambertville and can frequently be seen creating "plein aire" landscapes in and around that scenic town many of which are included in the exhibit. Viera will offer vibrant paintings of horses, birds and other wildlife images that deliver an expressionist impact. This is his third show at Artists' Gallery and it will be Debbie Pisacreta's first.
