"Quiet Spaces"
recent works by
Gail Bracegirdle
and
Debbie Pisacreta
May 4 - June 4, 2017
Opening Reception: Saturday May 13, 4-8 pm
Both Gail and Debbie's paintings evoke a quiet and calm feeling where the
choice of subjects and the use of muted palettes contribute to the sense of
contemplation and reflection that both artists feel when they paint.
Gail Bracegirdle's watercolors are filled with light and color. She prefers to
work from life or from sketches made on location in order to observe the
effects of direct and reflected light and shadow on her subject. Gail's goal in
painting is "to capture the illusion of movement or sound, a quiet moment, a
momentary pleasure, an intriguing juxtaposition of images, light and shadow."
Debbie Pisacreta also works directly from life. A plein-air landscape painter
from Lambertville, her oil paintings depict the gentleness of the town, the
river, and the surrounding farms. Debbie says "I paint on location as much as
possible and often make multiple sketches and studies for my painting until I
feel I have captured my emotional connection with the scene. My goal is to
create a visual story that communicates the feeling of that place and time."
And don't forget - while we feature 2 artists each month,
all 16
Artists' Gallery artists have work on display,
and there is always a
wide variety of artwork to enjoy.
